The Battle With Children's Grief Continues...
HomeCare Matters Home Health and Hospice’s Summer Children’s Grief Camp returns July 23, 24 and 25, 2015.
For 10 years, HomeCare Matters Superhero Children’s Grief Camp has taught children ages 6 to 13 how to gain power over their grief and mourn in a healthy, safe, and creative way.
“Last year’s change in curriculum was a huge success,” said Brandon Quail, HomeCare Matters Family Support Coordinator. “We gave kids suffering from the loss of a loved one the ability to define their feelings so they could develop a dialog to discuss what they were experiencing. That power within allowed them to face off against the Sulker, Wilma Worrisome, Dr. Dread and his pet Funk, the Accuser and other dastardly grief-fueled villains. By sharing that feelings of sadness, worry, guilt and anger are perfectly normal, they gained a better understanding of their emotions and how to deal with them better should and when they return. We are very proud to say we helped 30 children. We hope to help more superheroes this year.”
